Schools Out Holiday Club
Our fantastic holiday club is based at St. Benedict’s Catholic Voluntary Academy, Darley Abbey on Duffield Road for February, Easter & Summer & October holidays and then for the shorter holidays of the May/June & Christmas we are based at St John’s Methodist Church, Allestree. Please see the newsletter for venue. We have fabulous facilities available for children to use and enjoy. We offer a reliable Childcare Service open to all children from 3-14 years. We open from 7:30am all the way through until 6.00pm offering a range of different session times to fit in with you.
Children under 8yrs old can enjoy playing in a large brightly coloured hall with a wide variety of toys and resources
We have an Arts & Crafts where children can make the crafts of the day or get some help in making an idea they have. We enjoy model making, painting, hammer beads, drawing and colouring can all be found in the Arts & Crafts Area.
We have lots of imaginative play opportunities available for children to enjoy such as a babies area, kitchen, shop, cafe, travel agents, hairdressers, vets, garden centre, a school and lots of dressing up clothes.
Children enjoy the many toys that are set out on soft rubber matting like lego, cars, farm, princess castle, superheroes, k-nex, barbies, castle and pirate ship.
As our days can be very busy we always make sure that there is somewhere for children to chill out and relax. We have a movie area and book corner with mats, sofas and cushions. We also have areas for concentration and quieter activities like board games. We also enjoy story time and story boxes and we like to talk to the children about their ideas for what activities they would like to do that day or for future fun activities.
Cookery, craft, sports and fun projects activities are available everyday. Under 8's and over 8's can take part in special cookery everyday. This is very popular, especially with our over 8's who often enjoy bread making competitions and making cakes which are normally based around the weekly topics.
We support children’s ICT skills and interests by providing fun playing time using Wii’s and ipads. Gaming and T.V periods are not offered when we have structured activities on offer for example during cookery, arts and crafts, outdoor time children do not have access to the Wii’s, ipads and T.V to encourage them to take part in a wide variety of activities on offer.
Children aged 8yrs and over can relax and socialise in our over 8’s rooms with the latest games consoles, movies, music, dressing up fashion areas, hair styling, bratz, role play home corner, action figures, castle, lego, knex, drawing & colouring, hammer beads, books, magazines plus much more.
Children who attend the holiday club at St Benedict’s really enjoy our bouncy castle room which has bouncy castles, balancing beams, skipping ropes, music, cheerleading pompoms and den making. The gym at St Benedict’s is yet another great area for sports activities.
Then we have our outdoor space. We have lots of outdoor toys and equipment for children to choose from including balls, skipping ropes, bean bags, hoola hoops, sand pits, water area, outdoor tents and dens, building and construction toys, outdoor cars, tennis, bowling and more. At St Benedict’s we have a huge playground where children can go on the go-kart's in the playground also has basketball nets for children to practice their skills. To the front of the holiday club at St Benedict’s is our paved area where also plant and look after our flowers and vegetables here. We also have a field to the front of the school which we use for sports and for children to free play. We often take our toys outside to play and enjoy the fresh air. At St John’s we have a fenced garden area to the rear of the church where we play running about games, practice or archery skills and take part in planting activities. At St John’s holiday club we use our hall to play games like parachute games, dodgeball and team games.
PLEASE NOTE: Those children who are booked in for: Full day/Part Day/Midday will need to bring a packed lunch, we can provide a packed lunch at the price of £4.00, which is sandwiches of your child's choice, crisps, fruit and a biscuit, - our lunches are not hot dinners.
